caffeine + l-theanine: why the ratio is everything
120mg + 200mg. the ratio is not accidental.
caffeine is the most studied performance compound in existence. its mechanisms are well understood: it blocks adenosine receptors in the brain, reducing perceived fatigue, increasing alertness, and improving reaction time and power output. at the right dose, it works. this is not controversial.
the problem with caffeine alone is also well understood: it produces anxiety, jitteriness, elevated heart rate, and a crash when it clears. the stimulant curve is sharp in both directions.
l-theanine changes this entirely.
l-theanine is an amino acid found almost exclusively in green tea. it promotes alpha brain wave activity — the state associated with calm, focused alertness. on its own, it is mildly relaxing without causing sedation.
combined with caffeine, the research is remarkably consistent: l-theanine attenuates the anxiety and jitteriness of caffeine while preserving — and in some studies enhancing — the focus and cognitive performance benefits. the combination produces what researchers describe as calm, sustained alertness. no spike. no crash. no edge.
we call it precision energy.
120mg caffeine anhydrous. 200mg l-theanine. a 1:1.67 ratio, close to — though not identical to — the 1:1 and 1:2 ratios most commonly used in published research. our ratio is a formulation decision, calibrated specifically for the fasted context.
120mg was chosen specifically for that context. in a fasted state, stimulant sensitivity is higher. a lower caffeine dose delivers the same effective stimulus without the overcorrection that higher doses can produce when competing with an empty stomach.
this is precision energy. not more energy. better energy.
